1) Message from the Acting President of CIHR
This past week has been a whirlwind, but I want to thank the research community and CIHR staff for the warm welcome and encouragement. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I ask for your patience as we examine problems and address them as quickly but thoughtfully as possible, with input from appropriate experts and groups. I promise that we will keep you informed of our progress.

2) Investing in Canada�s Future: Strengthening the Foundations of Canadian Research
Last June, Minister of Science Kirsty Duncan appointed an independent panel to review the Government of Canada�s funding mechanisms for fundamental science. Chaired by Dr. David Naylor, the esteemed panel criss-crossed the country to collect input from researchers, scientists, students and the Canadian public. The panel has delivered its report, Investing in Canada�s Future: Strengthening the Foundations of Canadian Research. The report is available on the panel�s website.

CIHR Wants to Hear from You
Absence does not make the heart grow fonder � CIHR wants to hear from you as much as possible. There is a wonderful story to tell about the results and benefits of health research in Canada, but we need your help to truly make this a page turner. And, we need to keep telling this story. So, we encourage you to let us know when you have or, better still, are close to publishing the results of research funded by CIHR. Please drop us a line at mediarelations@cihr-irsc.gc.ca.
