The slides for lectures consist of my talking points, reminders to help guide my presentation of the
assigned reading. They will not make too much sense unless you attend the lecture. If you have the slides
in your computer before the lecture, or if you at least review them beforehand, I hope that you will not need to
write too much down during the lecture and thus have more time to engage in the presentation.
You will notice
that the slides take the organizational principles of the readings as their cue and organize
the talking points in accordance with questions. This is a deliberate attempt to show that
historical method is fundamentally interrogative. We study and learn history by asking questions.
Review the slides for tutorial before class. They will serve as the basis for our discussions.
