Required Text: Do you need it?
The official text for the course is Vemulapalli's Physical Chemistry (Prentice Hall, 1993).
This book has been chosen as the standard text for both our core physical chemistry courses (CHEM 260 and CHEM 360). However, I (Dr. Percival) don't teach from a book, so feel free to choose an alternative, e.g. Physical Chemistry by Atkins. Any standard physical chemistry text should do, as long as it is aimed at Chemistry Majors. There are also many specialist texts on quantum chemistry (e.g. the book by McQuarrie), but they typically introduce topics in a more mathematical way than CHEM 260.
