Current Research

I am currently in the final semester of my PhD studying Behavioural Ecology in Bernard Roitberg's Lab at Simon Fraser University. I am researching resource and sex allocation decisions in a solitary leafcutter bee, Megachile rotundata. My focus is on how numerous ecological conditions impact sex allocation decisions and more specifically how responsive these decisions are to changes in conditions. This work is being done in the field in Southern Alberta and also through the development of a Dynamic State Variable Model. I am also addressing questions of how nest defence and bee flight distance impact allocation decisions.

If you have any questions or want to talk leafcutter bees feel free to email me at jhpeters@sfu.ca
