Institute Application
Thank you for your interest in joining the Indigenous Research Institute at Simon Fraser University! The Institute is designed to bring together faculty and graduate students, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, who are doing research in Indigenous fields. Although the Institute’s primary concentration will be on research done with Canadian Aboriginal communities — First Nations (including status, non-status, treaty, and non-treaty), Métis, and Inuit — we welcome the membership of those doing work in international Indigenous arenas.
The Institute’s primary goals are to bring together researchers of like mind and research; to look for common themes in research through discussion and special events such as Research Days; to look for opportunities to collaborate, present, and mentor; to provide a forum for special guest speakers and symposiums; and to look for ways to collaborate more closely with on and off-campus communities.
The application to join Simon Fraser University’s Indigenous Research Institute is found on page two. Please answer the questions within and send these and an updated curriculum vitae to William G. Lindsay (Director, Office for Aboriginal Peoples, SFU) at wlindsay@sfu.ca.
Members of the Institute steering committee will examine applications accordingly and an e-mail contact list will be established. Once membership has been confirmed, we anticipate having the first Institute meeting in 2012 (TBA). Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest in this exciting initiative!
