community engagement

a global leader in building community

Our commitment to engage and support the communities we serve is what sets SFU apart. Students, faculty, and staff are engaged in initiatives and projects in British Columbia and around the world that help secure our economy, protect our environment, and contribute to our health and well-being.

More than a single place or program, SFU Public Square assembles the hearts, minds and talents of diverse communities to promote inclusive, intelligent and inspiring discourse.

Community Capacity Building

Based on values of transformation, equity and reciprocity, SFU’s free Community Capacity Building Certificate program helps community leaders deepen relationships with themselves, their communities and the land, as they plan, implement and evaluate a project they feel passionately about.

SFU International

Our SFU International office spearheads or participates in international development projects around the world that range from reducing HIV stigma in Africa to building capacity for community economic development to training post-secondary instructors.
