WEBSITE POLICY
The following information was developed in consultation
with current website policies for the Department of Justice
Canada, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, the Provincial
Government of British Columbia, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority,
BC Health Guide, the University of Teesside and Simon Fraser
University.
Copyright Statement [top]
All artworks (photos and graphics), documents
(including but not limited to working papers, reports, briefing
notes, media releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, text on
webpages), presentations and other materials within the www.sfu.ca/act4hlth/
domain belong to the creator(s), as stipulated
by the Canadian Copyright Act, Canadian laws, Simon Fraser University's Intellectual Property policy, regulations,
and international agreements. If authorship is not specified, assume the copyright belongs to the ACTION for Health project.
In the context of this policy, all of the below actions constitute
a means of reproducing content from the ACTION for Health
website, as per the nature of the internet and digital technology:
- Printing any materials from the website onto paper
- Visiting the website using a web browser (online or offline)
- Opening any file (other than webpages) accessible from
the ACTION for Health website, without downloading the file
onto a computer before viewing - technically-speaking, the
file is actually temporarily stored in the Temporary Internet
Files (or equivalent) folder to enable viewing
- Downloading any material from the website to a computer,
storing the data in a directory other than the Temporary
Internet Files (or equivalent) folder to enable retrieval
at the later date
- Copying and pasting materials from the website into other
computer programs such as Word, Word Perfect, a HTML editor
or a graphics editor

Non-Commercial Reproduction/Personal Use
Disseminating our research findings beyond the academic
community is a priority of the project. Materials found
on the ACTION for Health website may be reproduced (see
above for definition) for personal and public, non-commercial
consumption, without charge or further permission from
the ACTION for Health project. We ask only that:
- The material be reproduced in its entirety - except
when quoting passages from the website, which demands
that credit be given to the website and creator(s).
Do not modify or alter the content in any way - this
includes copying and pasting the contents from the ACTION
for Health website into another piece of software like
Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop.
- Proper credit be given to the creator(s) where appropriate
(in the bibliography, list of references, as a citation
etc.)
- Due diligence be exercised in ensuring the accuracy
of the materials reproduced
- The ACTION for Health website be identified as the source
- The reproduction not be represented as an official version
of the materials reproduced, nor as having been made in
affiliation with or with endorsement by ACTION for Health.
Commercial Reproduction
Without the express written consent from the ACTION for
Health Project Co-ordinator and creator(s) of the material(s)
in question, no content from this website may be reproduced,
in part or in whole, for commercial purposes.
Incomplete Reproduction of Materials
Please request, in writing, for permission from the Project
Co-ordinator to reproduce portions of any material available
on this website for both commercial and non-commercial purposes.
The Project Co-ordinator reserves the right to deny your
request if the purpose of the reproduction conflicts with
the values of the project.
Third-Party Materials
Some of the materials (images, documents) found on the ACTION
for Health website have been provided by external sources.
As such, these pieces are subject to copyrights held by
organizations other than ACTION for Health. Users wishing
to rely on works produced by external sources should contact
the source of the materials directly.

We are committed to providing our visitors with a website
that respects their privacy. The following summarizes the
ACTION for Health website privacy policy and practices.
- We do not automatically gather any personal information
from you, such as your name, phone number, e-mail or address.
This information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily,
usually through contacting us via email.
- Any personal information you do provide is protected under
the Canadian Privacy Act. This means that, at the point
of collection, you will be informed that your personal information
is being collected, the purpose for which it is being collected
and that you have a right of access to the information.
- Visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except
project staff who requires the information, e.g., to respond
to a request.
- This website uses temporary "cookies" to record
the IP addresses of users who visit the ACTION for Health
site; however, the technology makes no attempt to identify
or collect individual users' behaviour on the site. The
log containing the IP addresses of visitors is only available
to SFU Academic Computing Services staff (whose servers
host this website), while aggregate information is available
to the ACTION for Health Webmaster. Essentially, the data
is collected to help SFU ACS staff to:
- Understand how the SFU domain is being used or accessed
- Monitor the demand placed on servers and other equipment
- Collect evidence of technical vulnerability
- Assess the damages done if a user attacks the SFU
domain
Questions or comments regarding our website privacy practices
and policy should be directed to Kelly, our Privacy
Officer, by email, with "RE: Web Privacy" as
subject line.
If you have further concerns and or questions related to
the collection of IP addresses by SFU ACS, please contact
SFU Academic Computing
Services directly.

The ACTION for Health website privacy policy is derived from
