First International Workshop on Ballistocardiography & Seismocardiography

December 11th -16th 2012

Simon Fraser University, Aerospace Physiology Labortory

Burnaby BC Canada

Ballistocardiography and Seismocardiography are old techniques for measuring the mechanical performance of the heart. New technological advances have provided for new opportunities to use these old techniques for monitoring patients on earth and astronauts in space. This development has recently generated much research activity around the world; however, this diversity of researchers, interests and backgrounds has also resulted in an ambiguity in terminology and technical definitions. The goal of this FIRST international workshop in the field is to bring together as many of the most prominent researchers of the field in order to record signals simultaneously and think of standardization of definitions and annotations of these signals. SFU has been active in this particular field since 2005 and as a young university supports and promotes multidisciplinary research. As such we are happy to bring together esteemed scientists from around the world to provide a fresh engaging and innovative environment for the future development of Ballistocardiography and Seismocardiography
