SFU President Dr. Michael Stevenson visited with alumni in five countries in Asia in April and May: Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Guests relax and enjoy some good food and conversation at the alumni dinner. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – May 5, 2004  Forty guests attended SFU's alumni reception in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event was held at the Canadian High Commission's Official Residence. Guests included President Michael Stevenson, Dr. Ernie Love, Dean of SFU's Faculty of Business, the Canadian High Commissioner Melvyn MacDonald and Mrs. Diane MacDonald. SFU Malaysian alumnus and honorary degree recipient, Kooi Ong Tong (left) attended the gathering and asked alumni to join him in contributing toward the new Segal Graduate School of Business being built in downtown Vancouver. Tong has issued a challenge to international alumni to help create an International Strategy Room in the Segal School: He will match all donations up to $250,000 from international alumni.

Thank you to alumnus Lee Kok Kwan, BBA '87, MBA '88, (left) who generously donated $10,000 to the Segal School at the Malaysia event. Singapore – May 6, 2004  Photo at Left: President Stevenson enjoys an animated conversation with SFU alumnus Allan Luke, MA' 81, at the alumni reception in Singapore. More than 50 people attended the reception which was held at the Canadian High Commission's Official Residence. Guests included several SFU students who had just arrived in the country to begin their semester-long Southeast Asia Field School.
