2003 Outstanding Alumni Awards Photo Gallery

SFU and the Alumni Association welcomed 300 guests to the 2003 Outstanding Alumni Awards event on February 25, 2004 at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

The evening was a class act thanks to the generous support of event sponsor and alumni home and auto insurance provider TD Meloche Monnex Insurance.

Guests learned more about SFU's UniverCity development and viewed models of new homes coming soon by Millenium Development and Polygon. All three were sponsors of this event.

A member of SFU's world-championship class Pipe Band leads President Stevenson and guests into the Park Ballroom for dinner and the presentation of the Outstanding Alumni awards.

Event sponsor the Four Seasons Hotel prepared an elegant room to greet our guests who enjoyed fine wine with their dinner compliments of Domaine Combret Estate Winery.

Everyone enjoyed Spring in February thanks to the gorgeous floral arrangements sponsored by Nelson Deslippe at Integral Financial Services Inc.

President of the SFU Alumni Association, Greg Basham, MBA '82, BA '72, gives greetings to guests and shares the latest alumni news and achievements.

The crowd enjoyed the witty commentary of Master of Ceremonies Dr. Max Wyman, O.C., DLitt (Hon). Check out Max's new book The Defiant Imagination.

Award-winning journalist Daphne Bramham, MALS '99, (left) accepts her outstanding alumni award for Professional Achievement from Editor-in-Chief Patricia Graham of the Vancouver Sun.

Orca Bay COO Dave Cobb, BBA '87, (right) was honoured to receive his award for Professional Achievement from close colleague Brian Burke, President and GM of the Vancouver Canucks.

Henry Hoekema, BA '71, committed advocate for residents of the Vancouver Eastside is presented his award for Service to the Community by Gail McKechnie, a Director in University Advancement at SFU.

Researcher, teacher and mental health advisor, Dr. Marlene Moretti, MA '82, PhD '86, is congratulated on her award for Academic Achievement by colleague and Chair of Psychology, Dan Weeks.

Scientist, musician, athlete and community volunteer Tracy Chandler, BSc '03, (right) accepts her Outstanding Student Leadership Award from mentor and SFU Biology professor, Lynne Quarmby.
