1. Alumni Make a World of Difference

Thank you to more than 4,500 alumni who gave over $340,000 this fall to scholarships, bursaries, the library, and other funds that help students at SFU. If you haven't yet had a chance to donate, there is still time. All gifts postmarked by Dec. 31, 2006 are eligible for a 2006 tax receipt. Donate at 604.291.5309 or www.sfu.ca/advancement.

View SFU's video at www.mediadesign.sfu.ca/alumni06 to see how alumni giving makes a world of difference.

Thank you for your support!

2. Word of Mouse Contest - Spread the Word
Do you know an SFU grad who is NOT getting our emails? Tell them to visit our website and enter the Word of Mouse contest. Check it out at www.sfu.ca/alumni/contest. Alumni who already receive our monthly e-newsletter are automatically eligible - no need to enter. Contest closes December 31, 2006. Thank you for helping us spread the word!

3. Travel Opportunity for SFU Pipe Band Fans

Are you a fan of the SFU Pipe Band? Would you be interested in travelling to Glasgow, Scotland next August to watch them compete in the World Pipe Band Championships? Potential highlights: Enjoy dinner with the Pipe Band in a quaint village called Bridge of Allan, watch the Band rehearse in Stirling, attend the Edinburgh Tattoo, visit Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument, and see the Band perform in concert. Price (to be determined) would include: Flights, transfers, accommodation, and entrance tickets to the World's. To receive more information about this group trip, email Holli Edgelow, Director of Ceremonies & Events, at hedgelow@sfu.ca

4. Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy - Call for Nominations
The Sterling Prize is awarded annually to a recipient whose work presents new ways of looking at the world, ways that are daring and creative. Whether a student, staff member, academic, graduate, or a member of the community who has a connection to SFU, the prize winner is selected for unconventional and untraditional work that challenges complacency. The winner receives a $5,000 cash award and makes a public presentation at the Centre for Dialogue. Contact the Sterling Prize Committee at vpacad@sfu.ca if you intend to nominate someone or would like to suggest a candidate. Deadline: January 31, 2007. www.sfu.ca/sterlingprize

5. SFU 40th Anniversary Banners - On Sale Now
