Outstanding Alumni AwardsCelebrating Outstanding Accomplishments
The SFU Alumni Association has selected a pioneering paleontologist, a compassionate community activist, an extraordinary Aboriginal physician and a globally engaged former Mountie as winners of the 2011 SFU Outstanding Alumni Awards. Award recipients include Dr. Rolf Mathewes (BSc '69), James Chi Ming Pau (EARTS '84), Dr. Nadine Caron (BSc '93), and Graham Muir (MA '82). Join us as we recognize the accomplishments of these remarkable SFU Alumni, February 22 at the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver. Photo Contest WinnersAnnouncing the SFU Alumni Association’s Facebook Photo Contest Winners
The SFU Alumni Association’s first Facebook Photo Contest saw over 1,000 new Fans flock online to cast a vote for their favourite submission. Among the 28 entries were artistic, reflective and thought-provoking photos that all centered upon SFU’s “Thinking of the World” tagline. All photos, including the three winning entries, have now been posted on the SFU Alumni Association’s Flickr Photo Gallery. Celebrating SFU Authors: Invitation To Submit Works Published In 2011
For the past four years, the SFU Library has hosted an annual event celebrating SFU faculty, students, staff, alumni and retired university community members who have authored or co-authored a book, or its equivalent. Submissions are currently being accepted until February 1, 2012 for works published in 2011. A reception to mark the accomplishments of SFU authors will be held March 20 from 3:30 – 5:00pm. [Learn more]

XYBoom ConferenceMaximizing Possibilities In A Multigenerational Workplace: XYBOOM Conference
Taking an intergenerational approach, XYBOOM brings together 11 industry experts with business professionals and youth to address the changing workforce. Businesses will leave with strategies on maximizing possibilities in a multigenerational workplace while youth leave with an increased understanding of their role in the job market. How is attracting, retaining and developing talent changing? Do intergenerational differences really affect the workplace? Robbie Burns2012 Robbie Burns Day Aims to Set World Record
The Centre for Scottish Studies invites you to join SFU's bid to set a world record for the longest recitation of Robert Burns' poetry and songs. Join in reciting the work of Scotland's bard for 4.5 hours! Alumni are encouraged to RSVP for a 5-minute reading period. This free event is open to all members of the public and everyone is encouraged to cheer on the readers for the Robbie Burns Day celebration, which includes refreshments and entertainment.
