Vancouver Whitecaps FC invites SFU Alumni for ‘College/University Night’ on Saturday, March 24 at 7pm, when Whitecaps FC battle D.C. United at BC Place. Students, staff, and alumni from across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland will gather on ‘College/University Night’ to cheer on the ‘Caps while paying only $25 per person - a savings of up to $14 per person! Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures: International Women’s Day Conference
SFU’s chapter of Young Women in Business (YWiB SFU) is hosting their annual International Women’s Day Conference on Saturday, March 10 from 10am-4pm at SFU Woodward's. This year’s theme is “Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures.” Alumni are invited to this event that is a celebration of women's achievements and unique strengths. Included will be keynote speakers, an interactive panel session, entertainment and an expo. The speakers and panel will discuss a variety of questions regarding the unique challenges women face in today’s world and ways to overcome them. [Learn more]

Indigenous Stories EventSharing Indigenous People's Career Stories with Students
SFU Career Services and the Indigenous Student Centre are hosting an "Indigenous Peoples Career Stories" event on March 27 at the Burnaby campus. Students and alumni will be given the chance to meet six Aboriginal Story Tellers from a variety of organizations, industries and Nations. Additionally attendees will be treated to Git Hayetsk dancers. Refreshments will be served during a reception with employers recruiting Indigenous students for work and volunteer positions. Join SFU's Relay for Life  
Last year a team of SFU Residence Life student volunteers organized a local event on Burnaby mountain as part of the BC Cancer Foundation's national Relay for Life cancer fundraiser. Not only was SFU's group the only one that organized an event within a BC post-secondary institution, they also raised $43,000 and received an award for the most money raised per capita in Western Canada! This year the group is expanding their efforts and is inviting SFU alumni to become part of this exciting event which they're hoping to make an annual tradition at SFU. Build SFUNew Student Union Building Proposed on the Burnaby Campus
The Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) unveiled a $65-million proposal Feb. 20 to add a 100,000 square-foot student union building and a 2,500-seat outdoor stadium to existing facilities at the university’s Burnaby campus. The new complex would be built in the Lorne Davies Athletic Complex at the south end of Terry Fox field (where the current pool is located). Initial plans showcase a bright and open space that includes individual study areas, meeting rooms and recreational facilities. [Learn more]

Alumni and friends are invited to stroll the halls of your alma mater at SFU’s 2012 Open House on Sat., May 26. Come back “to the hill” and retrace your steps and explore the new programs and growing community atop Burnaby Mountain. Consider sharing your ‘one cool memory’ of your student days at SFU and sign into our virtual guest book to see who else plans to attend this free family event.
