ALUMNI & CAMPUS NEWS Last Call: Outstanding Alumni Awards NominationJune 21, 2013: The deadline to nominate candidates for the 2013 SFU Outstanding Alumni Awards is fast approaching. Up to four graduates will be honoured who have made significant contributions in fields such as: Academic Achievement; Arts and Culture; Athletics, Professional Achievement; Public Service; Service to the Community; and Service to the University. The awards were established in 1983, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of the Outstanding Alumni Awards program. [Nomination forms] SFU Alumni Annual Gathering and General Meeting and Annual Report The 2013 SFU Alumni Association’s Annual Alumni Gathering and General Meeting was held on May 22 at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts. More than 200 grads attended the event where they listened to an engaging keynote by alumnus Danny Catt, met several of the Board of Directors candidates, participated in the AGM that highlighted the past year’s successes, and viewed the annual report. [View the keynote and AGM] [Read the annual report - pdf] Introducing Your New Alumni Association Board of Directors More than 1,500 alumni cast their votes during the online elections for six new positions for the SFU Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. We thank all 20 candidates who put their names forward and congratulate the following alumni who have joined the Board to serve the needs and interests of our graduates: Sean Burke (BBA ’10), Ian Davis (BA ’77, incumbent), Angie Hall (BA ’11, MA ’13), Diana Reid (BA ’82), Armita Seyedalikhani (BA ’02, incumbent), and Greg Taylor (BSc ’03, incumbent). At no cost to you, they will shop around to get you the best available rate, and you’ll also get free appraisals and legal discounts. For every mortgage you arrange with them, they will make a financial contribution to the Alumni Association to help fund programs. [Learn more] Alumnus Wins Big Prize From Alumni Association Partner TDIMM Yes, reading emails from SFU Alumni and participating in alumni programs can pay off.
