Join The Party! Homecoming 2010
Alumni and their families are invited to SFU’s first Homecoming event, Saturday October 2nd on the Burnaby campus. Join us for activities, entertainment, food, and lots of great prizes, and cheer on the Clan as they battle the Dixie State College Red Storm! Unsure Of Your Career Options? Find Your Way...
Whether you’re looking to go back to school, volunteer, or find new employment, alumni are invited to visit SFU’s annual Career Fair, Graduate & Professional School Fair and Volunteer & Civic Engagement Fair Sept 21-23. Not sure what questions to ask or how to prepare yourself? Register for one of SFU Career Services’ one-on-one appointments or a group workshop in advance. [Learn more]

K'Naan Waves Flag At SFU Burnaby September 21st!
Acclaimed hip-hop artist, K’Naan – most recently renowned for his “Wavin’ Flag” FIFA World Cup Anthem – will be performing during I Vision One World’s second annual World Peace Day at SFU’s Convocation Mall on September 21st. Tickets are limited to 3 per person (SFU students and alumni only). An I Vision One World Scholarship Fundraising Dinner will also be held at Club Ilia on the Burnaby campus prior to the concert. [Learn more]


SFU Contemporary Arts Opens Its Doors And You're Invited!
Come together Sept. 24-26 to celebrate the long-anticipated opening of SFU Contemporary Arts at Woodward’s. An Open House will run throughout the weekend, featuring a range of free performances that offer a glimpse of what SFU students, faculty, community partners and international guests will be dishing out from their new digs at Woodward’s. SFU Gets Closer To The Stars
Bring the family for an action-packed afternoon and evening of free science activities for kids of all ages during SFU’s Starry Nights @ SFU Forever event. The event kicks off the celebration for the approved construction of a $4-million, 458-square-metre astronomical observatory and science outreach centre next to the Diamond Alumni Centre at the Burnaby campus. Have A Daughter or Son Starting University?
Students aren’t the only ones who go through a transition when they enter University; their parents are also often unsure of how to best support these young adults through important academic and life choices. SFU wants to ensure that parents are provided with information to help their university students make the transition and has developed a new website with valuable information and resources. [Learn more]

Become A SOUL Mentor And Give Back To The SFU Community!
By matching driven female students with professional SFU alumni from various faculty backgrounds, Supporting Our University Leaders (SOUL) is a one-on-one mentorship program unique to Young Women in Business (YWiB) SFU. Besides the opportunity to give back to the SFU community, you will gain rewarding experience as a SOUL mentor by providing advice and making an important impact in a young female leader's career and life. 2010 Awards For Excellence In Teaching
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2010 Awards for Excellence in Teaching. All continuing full and part-time faculty members (tenured and tenure-track professors, lecturers, and lab instructors) who have taught a minimum of 5 years at Simon Fraser University are eligible for the awards. Nominations may be made by SFU students, alumni and/or faculty. Nomination deadline is October 15, 2010. [Learn more]

Players Wanted: New SFU Women's Ice Hockey Team
Alumni who are interested in playing competitive women's hockey have an opportunity to become a member of SFU's first Women's Ice Hockey Team, which has made an application to play in the South Coast Female Amateur Hockey League. [Learn more]
