Maclean's Ranks SFU as #1 Comprehensive University!
For the fifth straight year, SFU has been rated Canada’s best comprehensive university in the Maclean’s annual ranking. SFU has held this top spot a record ten times since the Maclean’s rankings began 22 years ago.
The ranking is based on our high standing in a number of categories, including awards for faculty and students, student services and student/faculty ratios.

Submit Blaney Award Nominations by November 16
SFU's Centre for Dialogue encourages you to submit nominations for the 2013/14 Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue. This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated international excellence in the use of dialogue to further understanding of complex and profound public issues. Nominations are encouraged from diverse fields such as human rights, arts and culture, environmental sustainability, social justice, spirituality, government and journalism. [Learn more]
The SFU Video Contest: Winners Announced!
Recently, SFU Work Integrated Learning (WIL) hosted a video contest sponsored by the SFU Alumni Association and SFU Alumni Relations. The SFU community was encouraged to submit brief videos that highlighted one of three themes: My Co-op Experience, My Volunteer Experience, or My Career Experience. Calling All CLAN Alumni: Re-Connect Event November 17
Alumni who played with the SFU CLAN are invited to attend the second annual "Alumni Re-Connect Pub Night" at Smiley's Pub, Saturday, November 17 at 7:30pm. This free event is designed to help you re-connect and catch up with former alumni, family, and friends of the CLAN, and will feature a DJ and TV's for those interested in watching the UFC fight that evening. Athletics – SFU Basketball Season Begins!
November marks the season start for the women’s and men’s basketball teams. The women’s team tips off their home schedule on Friday November 23rd against Cal State Stanislaus at 7:00pm in the West Gym. The men play their first conference game on December 1st against Western Washington at 7:30pm, also in the West Gym. Wear RED to support your Clan. Making A Difference: SFU's 2011/12 Donor Report
View the SFU 2011/12 Donor Report for real-life stories on how the generous support of donors is benefitting students, researchers and our communities. Close to $40 million in support was received through gifts of all sizes from thousands of individuals, businesses, foundations and organizations. Bah! Humbug!
From December 12-16, SFU Woodward's and Vancouver Moving Theater present this re-telling of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, which has a local twist with Scrooge looking to re-develop the neighbourhood from his pawn shop in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Featuring over 20 musical numbers, this fundraising performance benefits the city's east side community arts with all proceeds going to the Community Arts Council of Vancouver and the Heart of the City Festival. By using the code “AlumHumbug”, alumni will receive 20% off of their ticket price. [Learn more]
Celebrating SFU Authors - Invitation To Submit Works Published In 2012
The SFU Library is hosting its annual event to celebrate and honour SFU faculty, students, staff, alumni and retired university community members who have authored or co-authored a book, or its equivalent, within the past year. The event is an opportunity to encourage academic dialogue and ensure that works by SFU authors are available to the University community through the Library's collection. Alumni are invited to submit their eligible work to be recognized as part of this celebration. The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2013. [Learn more]
