Alumni, students, campus community members and the public are invited to meet our 2006 Outstanding Alumni Award winners and hear their personal stories of leadership and success at the Alumni Leaders Forum. Wednesday, February 21, Diamond Alumni Centre, SFU Burnaby. Catered reception 4:30 - 5:30 pm, panel presentation and questions 5:30 - 6:45 pm, more networking and mingling 6:45 - 7:30 pm.  3. Call for Nominations - Alumni Board of DirectorsLooking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity where you can represent your fellow alumni and help your university? The Alumni Association is seeking nominations for new members of its volunteer Board of Directors. Terms are for three years beginning June 2007 to May 2010. Deadline for nominations is 4:00 pm Thursday, April 5, 2007. Elections will be held at the Annual Alumni Gathering & General Meeting on May 23, 2007 at the Vancouver International Film Centre. SFU Launches New Brand  On February 7, SFU unveiled a new logo, wordmark, and tagline, designed to convey a single and consistent brand identity. The new brand's three elements -- a red logo block with the SFU initials in white, SFU's full-name wordmark, and the tagline "Thinking of the World" -- were developed after extensive market research including a survey of alumni. The new look will be phased in gradually and will help encapsulate SFU's distinctive values and achievements. Read more >> 5. Backpack to Briefcase Conference 2007 - March 10 Make a smooth transition to the world of work, sharpen your job-search skills, and learn how to compete in the job market. Attend SFU's Backpack to Briefcase Conference 2007, presented by SFU Career Services and the Alumni Association. Alumni: $25. The Instant University - Feb. 15 Oral History DVD Launch Alumni are welcome to join the SFU community for the first public viewing of "Instant University", a DVD oral history of SFU's early days. Thursday, February 15, 1:30 pm - 3:20 pm, Images Theatre, SFU Burnaby. Presented by the SFU Retiree Association. This feature is a follow-up to the first DVD released during SFU's 40th anniversary: "The Excitement of the Early Years". Copies of both DVD's can be purchased for $20 at the showing or by mail. Bring them to SFU Surrey's annual open house on Wednesday, February 21, 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and see what SFU Surrey has to offer, inside and outside the classroom. Live entertainment, prizes, and plenty of presentations on academic programs and services for prospective students.
