2. Outstanding Alumni Awards Event - February 21, 2006
Join us for the 40th anniversary SFU Outstanding Alumni Awards at Vancouver's Four Seasons Hotel on Tuesday, February 21. Reception at 6:00 pm followed by dinner and awards presentation at 6:45 pm. Tickets: $85 each or $625 per table if purchased by January 31. After January 31, $100 each or $750 per table. Register online at www.sfu.ca/alumni/events.




Winners include Mike Cordoba, BBA '98, Daniel Igali, BA '01, Kathleen Louis, BA '74, Milton Wong, LLD '98, and Terry Beech, BBA student. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Margaret Gallagher, BA '90, host of CBC Radio's "690 To Go".

3. Win a Rafting Adventure: Visit the Co-op Learning Community

SFU Co-op's Online Learning Community is a resource that alumni can use to network with employers, share career experiences, mentor students, and discuss career development issues. It's the first of its kind in North America and has drawn attention from around the world. To welcome alumni, an eight week contest has been launched, featuring a grand prize white water rafting adventure package. 4. Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy - Call for Nominations
The Sterling Prize is awarded annually to a recipient whose work presents new ways of looking at the world, ways that are daring and creative. Whether a student, staff member, academic, graduate, or a member of the community who has a connection to SFU, the prize winner is selected for unconventional and untraditional work that provokes a wide audience. The winner receives a $5,000 cash award and makes a public presentation at the Centre for Dialogue. Contact the Sterling Prize Committee at vpacad@sfu.ca to nominate someone or suggest an individual whose work merits consideration. Details: www.sfu.ca/sterlingprize. Deadline: January 31, 2006.

5. Centre for Dialogue Workshops
SFU's Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue is an international conference facility in downtown Vancouver that is designed for productive meetings and dedicated to effective communication. Space is available in workshops on: Facilitating emotionally charged group sessions; Shared sacred space; and Dialogue education. For more about workshops see http://www.sfu.ca/dialogue/current.htm.

Annual Robbie Burns Dinner & Silent Auction - January 20, 2006
Four time world champion SFU Pipe Band presents the annual Robbie Burns Dinner & Silent Auction on Friday January 20 at the Executive Hotel on North Road in Coquitlam. Reception 6:00 pm. Dinner 7:00 pm. Tickets at www.sfupipeband.com.

International Conference on Teacher Development - March 2 to 4, 2006
SFU alumni are invited to participate in a special 40th anniversary international conference on teacher development hosted by SFU's Faculty of Education. March 2 - 4, Hyatt Regency Hotel, Vancouver BC. Stephen Lewis, former Canadian Ambassador to the UN and the current UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, will be the keynote speaker at the gala banquet (tickets sold separately). SFU Business and BASS Student Banquet - March 9, 2006
