1. Alumni Board Election - RESULTS
Fifteen alumni recently ran for eight vacant positions on the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Elections were held at the Annual General Meeting on May 23, 2007. Thank you to everyone who came out to vote. Successful candidates were incumbents Allan Maynard and Angela Koulyras, and new members Aaaron Cruikshank, Dale Flood, Marcia Wakarchuk-Jones, Meena Mann, Nicole Utterback and Sarah Waters. 3. Call for Nominations - 2007 Outstanding Alumni Awards
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2007 Outstanding Alumni Awards. If you know an SFU graduate who deserves recognition for his or her extraordinary achievements, please let us know. Categories include: professional, academic, arts & culture, athletics, public service, service to the community, and service to the university. 4. Upcoming Alumni Survey - Summer 2007
SFU and the Alumni Association will be conducting an alumni survey this summer to learn more about the wants, needs, and opinions of our graduates. If you are selected as part of our random sample and are sent an invitation to participate, we hope you will take a few minutes to tell us what you think. 5. June 2007 Convocation News
The Alumni Association grows to 95,000 members during June convocation. Honorary Degree recipients include SFU alumni Terry Snutch, BSc '79, PhD '85, a molecular biologist whose Neuromed Pharmaceuticals signed the biggest agreement in Canadian biotech history; and Larry Beasley, BA '73, former Vancouver city planner largely credited with transforming the city's downtown core. 6. SFU Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament - September 11, 2007
Registrations and sponsorships are now being accepted for the SFU Alumni & Friends Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 11 at the Swan-e-Set Country Club in Pitt Meadows, BC. Format: Texas scramble, 4 players per team. All alumni and friends of SFU are welcome. Registration includes golf, lunch, banquet dinner, and prizes.
