Sequence of events
CHECK IN (NORTHEAST AQ 3000)
Please check in at the Student Services desk in the north-east corner of the AQ, on the 3000 level by Renaissance Coffee. You will need to bring your Alumni Eventbrite ticket and photo identification. You will receive a dean’s card which will have your name on it. Please keep this card in a safe place as it will be needed when you line up for your procession and as you cross the stage.
NOTE: All graduates and guests must have their Eventbrite tickets printed or on their phone upon arrival.
REGALIA PICK UP (NORTH AQ 3000)
Pick up your regalia from Gaspard, located in the north AQ 3000 level. Note: There is a free coat check available for graduands.
GET HOOD PINNED (NORTH AQ 4000, BY THE POND)
Volunteers will be stationed on the AQ 4000 level (outside, under the overhang, near the pond; pictured above) to help you with pinning your gown and adjusting your hat. After you have been pinned, you should have time to take photos with your family and friends before the procession assembles. Note: the tassel goes on the left-side of your face. PhD alumni can skip this step.
SEND/TAKE YOUR GUESTS TO CONVOCATION MALL
Guests will need to be checked in before they are seated. All guests must have their Eventbrite ticket printed or available on their phone to enter Convocation Mall.
LINE UP FOR PROCESSION—NW CORNER OF THE AQ, NEAR THE END OF THE POND
Line up for a morning session starts at 9:15 a.m.
Line up for an afternoon session starts at 2:00 p.m.
CEREMONY SEATING FOR GRADUATES IN CONVOCATION MALL
Once the procession begins, ushers will guide graduates to their seats.
CROSS THE STAGE
Your dean’s card will be scanned just before you cross the stage. This will be used for reading out your name and for your name to appear on the large screens over the stage. Please note:
- Only certified guide/service animals are allowed to cross the stage with graduands.
- Alumni should pre-arrange child-minding while they are in the procession.
Artona will take your photo as you cross the stage.
Flip tassel to right before exiting stage.
After the ceremony, while you’re in your regalia, feel free to walk around campus and take photos.
JOIN THE CELEBRATIONS
Faculties will be hosting receptions after your ceremony. Be sure to attend to extend your celebration! Find your faculty celebration here.
RETURN REGALIA (NORTH AQ 3000)
Those who graduated with their undergraduate or masters can keep their cap.
