DAC Community Consultation

Through a consultation process, SFU is looking to faculty, staff and students, as well as the wider community, to gather and incorporate your valued feedback regarding the long-term future use of the Diamond Alumni Centre (DAC). Your input will then be used to recommend options to the university.

The DAC physical space includes:

  • an upper-floor event space (3832 sq ft)

  • lower-floor seminar spaces (1625 sq ft) and

  • offices on the lower floor

The DAC has been used as the Burnaby campus's signature event space for conferences, seminars, departmental dinners, retirement parties and alumni weddings. In 2019, the DAC hosted over 90 events plus lunch buffets.

Looking forward plans for renovations and the long-term use of the space are being assessed to ensure the most benefit and value to our SFU community and partners.

Considerations include the historical use of the space and the uniqueness of the natural setting; accessibility and safety; development of a sense of community and inclusion; long-term vision and needs of internal and external communities - including alumni; financial sustainability and viability; alignment with university strategic priorities and avoiding duplication of functionality elsewhere on campus.
