As a recent graduate of the Beedie School of Business and winner of the Dean's Convocation Medal, Curtis Jones has already logged almost 10 years of experience as a volunteer with the North Shore Search and Rescue (NSR) Team. Today he's studying law at UBC, but when he's not hitting the books, you can find him on the mountain making life-changing decisions.
Growing up in North Vancouver, Curtis made his first helicopter rescue at age 16 and has participated in over 300 rescues. He learned the ropes from his late father and fellow SFU alumnus, Tim Jones, who served as the Team Leader and media spokesperson for the NSR.
In addition to hands-on rescue work, Curtis has been able to put his Human Resources concentration to good use by serving on the NSR Board of Directors, co-managing their website, social media and blog, and handling their recruitment and training.
Kudos to you, Curtis. Good luck with law school and stay safe on the mountains!
