Prior to her doctoral studies Ann had a distinguished career as a teacher, school vice principal, principal and education consultant for Special Education and programs for the gifted in the BC school system.
Since completing her doctoral studies she was the External Research Advisor assisting 6 schools with a project examining the impact of a student leadership program, The Leader In Me. The schools involved in the project are located in Slave Lake, Alberta, a town that was heavily damaged in a major forest fire.
Ann’s thesis research involved a study of crisis and recovery in a school context so she continued her work in this area since the schools were still involved in recovering from the fire. In January, 2013 she presented a paper based on her research in the field of Crisis Recovery to the Hawaii International Conference on Education
Ann is also currently involved as Team Leader and Project Writer on a Student Assessment Handbook for elementary schools in Nunavut. In addition, she is working with a software company providing advice about the process of Thoughtstream, an online tool that supports group collaboration for organizations of any size. In addition, Ann is working to publish a major component of her thesis research as a book and sits on the Board of Directors for Sunshine Coast Community Services.
