An SFU athlete from 1997-1999, Daniel Igali won 116 consecutive matches as a member of the Clan, and his impressive university accomplishments led to an even more outstanding post-collegiate career.

Igali won Canada’s first gold medal in wrestling at the 2000 Olympic Games, and earned another gold medal two years later at the 2002 Commentwealth Games. In 2000 he was also awarded the Lou Marsh Award; recognizing him as Canada’s top athlete that year.

In 2001 Igali was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame. He has subsequently been inducted into the Canadian wrestling Hall of fame, the Canadian sports hall of fame, the Canadian Olympic hall of fame and the World Wrestling hall of fame.
