Since graduating at the top of her class with a straight A average, Sarena continues to work on social justice issues through her work in the non-profit sector. Currently, Sarena works as Administrative and Communications Coordinator for First Call, a BC child and youth advocacy coalition comprising of over 90 provincial and regional organizations, engaged communities and hundreds of individuals who come together to mobilize British Columbians in support of strong public policies and the allocation of resources for the benefit of children and youth. Previous to that, Sarena was involved with CoDevelopment Canada, a B.C. based NGO that works for social change and global education in the Americas.
What I appreciate most about Sarena is her humility, warmth and intelligence. Unlike most of her peers who jumped on the law/grad school bandwagon after completing their bachelor's degree, Sarena has chosen to further her commitment to social justice in her everyday practice instead.
