BASc (Mech), 2014
Colin is always looking for a challenge. He becomes energized when he has a puzzle to solve. This has made him an inspired Mechatronic engineering student, as he seeks bigger and more complicated puzzles to change the world with. He was not only a dedicated student, but is also now an incredible community leader.
He has supported and encouraged countless of his fellow students during his undergrad journey by tutoring and encouraging them. He believes strongly in empowering others to create a stronger world. Personally, he was the encouraging and patient friend that became the key to get me through my most challenging courses. He is always looking for a chance to help others succeed. There are only a few people in this world like Colin, who can inspire anyone to feel like they can accomplish anything.
He has also touched others outside academics. Colin helped involve the SFU community in the Mechatronic Engineering field, by being a founding member of the SF-1 team, a student group that designs, builds and races open wheeled formula one cars to compete with hundreds of other universities across North America. I have watched him encourage Science, Business, and Arts students, as well as non-students in the community, to find their potential and individual skills to offer SF-1 projects.
Colin has inspired me, and countless others, to do more than we thought possible. For this, his determination, patience and generosity is greatly appreciated and admired.
