A desire to make a positive impact on people’s lives led Doug to join together with several colleagues to start Kardium, a company focused on developing innovative medical devices. Since Kardium’s founding in 2007, Doug has led the company, wearing multiple hats in engineering, product management, corporate finance, and HR.
Doug attests to the power of teamwork and the ability to unite to make a difference.
He believes that building a successful company means providing a great place to work, creating a strong team, having a positive corporate culture, and delivering innovative products that help improve well-being.
Working together, Doug and his team have created the Globe™ Mapping and Ablation system - a highly sophisticated device that could help in the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation, an abnormal heart rhythm that can significantly increase the likelihood of stroke.
To inform the development of this groundbreaking system with life-saving potential, Doug has attended numerous medical conferences, interviewed many doctors and works closely with the world’s leading electrophysiologists, learning from them directly.
Doug specialized in SFU’s Computing Engineering program and credits the co-op program with helping him secure a job after graduation, where he made long-lasting connections with people who have become his colleagues at Kardium.
