Igor  Faletski

BSc (Cmpt),  2007

Igor Faletski and fellow SFU alumnus John Boxall founded Mobify in the living room of their Burnaby basement three years ago, but they wanted to take it further. To say they succeeded is an understatement.

Today, Mobify is a global mobile commerce platform with almost 100 full-time employees, powering some of the largest retailers in the world, including Starbucks, Garmin, Toyota and Expedia, and tens of thousands of developers globally.

Mobify was born out of Igor’s frustration at regularly missing his bus. Using his creativity and knack for problem solving, he developed an SMS service that delivered Translink schedules to his phone by text message. Following the success of the text messaging app, Mobify has continue to grow by looking for new opportunities and adjusting to a rapidly changing market of mobile apps and mobile web.

Igor and John met as undergraduates at SFU, where they founded a bi-weekly club called Mobile Mondays that brought students together to discuss mobile market trends. Many of these connections continued to flourish after graduation with some attendees even becoming Mobify team members.

In May 2010, Mobify was named one of the “Top 25 Up and Comers” by Backbone Magazine. In January 2013, CBC News identified Mobify as one of the "10 Canadian tech companies to watch in 2013". This year, Igor was named one of BC Business magazine’s “30 Under 30.”
