Shari Graydon is an award-winning author, journalist and communications consultant with more than 20 years of experience on both sides of the media microphone. A former newspaper columnist, TV producer and commentator for CBC radio and TV, she also served as press secretary to a provincial premier and as president of MediaWatch. She has also taught communications, media relations and presentation skills at SFU.

She is the founder and catalyst of Informed Opinions, a non-profit initiative that amplifies women's voices and builds women's leadership through media engagement. Partnering with universities, NGOs and the private sector, Informed Opinions bridges the gender gap in public discourse by training and supporting expert women to contribute their ideas and analysis to information media. Shari has developed and delivered programming (workshops and keynote presentations) empowering hundreds of women to appreciate the public value of their expertise, find their voices and write and publish commentary in influential online sites and newspapers across the country.

Check out Shari's latest book, I Feel Great About My Hands, a collection of stories, essays and poems embracing the changes, discoveries and wisdom that come with age. Royalties benefit Informed Opinions to further amplify women's voices.

In 2007, Shari received the Governor General's Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case for her advocacy work on behalf of women.

She is married to author and historian David Mitchell, President and CEO of the Public Policy Forum and another proud SFU alumnus.
