David Mitchell is playing an important and influential role in Canada as CEO of the Public Policy Forum, an independent non-governmental organization dedicated to improving the quality of government in Canada through dialogue and research. The Forum brings together policy makers (politicians and public servants) with academics and business leaders to explore in a neutral setting the complex and difficult issues facing Canadians, the sensitivity of which sometimes stifles public dialogue. The Forum tackles important issues to our local, provincial and national communities including health, workplace, resource management, innovation, leadership and public engagement.
His long career of public service and community engagement includes serving as Vice-President of three of Canada's finest universities: Queen's, the University of Ottawa, and his alma mater Simon Fraser University. He also served as a Member of the BC Legislature from 1991 to 1996 covering key issues such as advanced education, resource management and labour relations.
With an MA in History, David is passionate about the past, present and future of politics and government. He is an award-winning writer and former newspaper columnist, and is frequently called upon to share his analysis and perspective as a commentator in print and broadcast media. Want to know more about BC history? Check out some of David's books including W.A.C. Bennett and the rise of British Columbia.
He is married to author and media critic Shari Graydon, another proud SFU graduate.
Thank you, David, for all you do to make our country great!
