Harbir Sian

BSc (KIn),  2005

Dr. Harbir Sian graduated from Simon Fraser University with a bachelor of applied science in Kinesiology in 2005. After completing his undergraduate studies, he moved to Boston to study optometry at the New England College of Optometry. Harbir graduated with his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2010 and moved back to practice in Vancouver.

Since his graduation, he has been avidly involved in the BC Association of Optometrists and is currently sitting as a committee chair on the association. Harbir has been a true ambassador of his profession and displays his passion by continually engaging in public education. He writes his own blog (aboutmyeyes.com) and creates YouTube videos (YouTube.com/harbirsianod) to help increase public awareness about the importance of eye care in a fun and entertaining way.

In 2013, Dr. Sian opened a full-scope optometry practice in Abbotsford with his business partner, Dr. Harleen Takhar, also an SFU alumna.

Harbir is also a key opinion leader with Alcon, an industry leader in vision care. In this role, he has been asked to speak regarding Alcon's new contact lens and vision care technologies.

In 2015, Harbir traveled to South America with the OneSight organization to provide eye exams for people in under-developed areas of Colombia. And most recently, he was awarded the 2016 Young Optometrist of the Year by the BC Doctors of Optometry.

Thanks Harbir for being so committed and passionate!
