Macy is a connector and a true SFU ambassador. Since 2001 she has been working hard as an official SFU Alumni Representative to keep SFU's over 1,500 alumni connected to each other and the University. A mother of two young children, and entrepreneur who has started several businesses, she manages to squeeze in time to organize social events to keep alumni engaged with each other and their communities and actively works to help promote SFU whenever possible to people in Hong Kong.
She also volunteers significant amounts of her time towards expanding business opportunities between Canada and Hong Kong, and also for developing partnerships between businesses in Hong Kong. At present she is a Board member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM) in Hong Kong, and serves as the Honorary Secretary for the Canadian Universities Association (CUA), which acts as an umbrella group for some twenty Canadian university alumni associations active in Hong Kong today.
Most recently she worked diligently with her husband Jack and other volunteers to organize Hong Kong's first Terry Fox Walk/Run - a long-standing tradition at SFU's campuses in BC. By doing so, Macy helped to extend Terry's legacy which began at SFU in the 1970's.
Macy is the consummate volunteer who goes above and beyond to build SFU's reputation and hence the value an SFU degree holds in Hong Kong. She works hard to also raise awareness for local high school students about the opportunities that an SFU education can provide.
Oh, and she's a huge Canucks fan, too!
Thank you, Macy, for all of your amazing efforts!
