Jonathan Bell-Etkin.
Age 9
Rick Etkin took the portrait of Dr. Jamie Scott for our science
research feature. Rick is a well-established advertising photographer
based in Vancouver who can easily be led astray by dogs, people, and
mountains (not necessarily in that order). Over the past couple of
years, when not distracted, Ricks clients have called upon his
skills with large productions for campaigns for GM, Bell Canada, Terasen,
Slimfast, Cox Communications, and many others. Ricks real day-to-day
work can be found at www.ricketkin.com.
Shawn Huish
Margaret Jetelina, who wrote our cover story on co-op, is an
SFU communications co-op alumnus herself. After several years of working
as a communications officer and magazine editor, she is now principal
of WordJet Editorial Services, which provides writing, editing, communications,
and desktop publishing services to a variety of publishing and business
clients.
Bruce Mason
Bruce Mason contributed both the story and picture of environmentally
conscious publishers Christopher and Judith Plant for Alumni Watching.
He earned a BA at SFU in 1971, and worked in media and public relations
at the university and UBC for 15 years. He is now a freelance writer
living on Gabriola Island.
Sharon
Proctor, our science writer, is a freelancer with a doctorate
in biology from Stanford. She headed the education and interpretation
activities for the Vancouver Aquarium for 20 years before turning
to full-time writing. This issue she writes about AIDS researcher
Jamie Scott.
Greg White
Greg White created our illustrations for Mountain High.
He works on a wide variety of illustration assignments and sometimes
doubles as a designer. Clients include Red Herring, Out
Magazine, Business 2.0, McDonalds, Wall Street
Journal, BC Business, and Fashion Magazine. His
work can be seen at www.gregart.com
and www.agoodson.com.
