SFU's new president has the unique combination of academic and political skills to take the university to the next level.

On a mid-August morning moist with humidity, I found myself inviting Andrew Petter, SFU's soon-to-be-installed ninth president, to leave his new hybrid Ford Fusion behind in the hotel garage so we could talk about his new job on a stuffy No. 135 Express as it moseyed along Hastings Street from downtown Vancouver to Burnaby Mountain.
