Research

My research focuses on reconstructing the population histories of caribou and muskox on Banks Island, NWT, using ancient DNA technology. This research integrates the population histories with paleoclimatic data and the timeline of human occupation, aiming to uncover the complex relationships between climate change, human activities, and the population sustainability of the two species. I hope that this research will provide a better understanding of caribou and muskox population fluctuations and inform conservation management, contributing to the protection of the two ecologically and culturally significant species.
