Alberni Prehistory: Archaeological and Ethnographic Investigations on Western Vancouver Island is the first book to detail the prehistory and culture history of the Central Westcoast (Nootkan) people, the Tseshaht and Opetchesaht, whose traditional homeland includes the Alberni Valley and the Westcoast region of Vancouver Island. This book represents the long-awaited completion of a community archaeology project initiated in 1973. Alberni Prehistory includes a full report on the analysis of the data excavated from one prehistoric native village site, a survey of all other recorded archaeological sites in the study area, plus detailed ethnographic and historic information on native groups and their seasonal cycle of adivities.
