2007 China Archaeology and Palaeoanthropology Field School

The SFU China Archaeology and Palaeoanthropology field school will lead you to China's ancient heritage through close and direct dialogue with the spectacular archaeological discoveries of the past while being immersed in the dynamic culture of modern China.

Following three weeks of coursework at SFU, you will arrive in Beijing where two weeks of lectures and site visits will be centered around the national institutes of archaeology and palaeoanthropology, with visits to other national museums and cultural sites. You will then travel to Shandong (the home povince of Confucius) for a two-week course in Chinese culture and society at Shandong University. The field school will finish with two weeks of guided travel to significant archaeological sites in Shandon, Henan, and Shaanxi provinces where the early Chinese civilization first took form.
