Introduction:

I have worked in heritage resource management (HRM) in BC for thirteen years and am currently employed by Wood E&IS in Burnaby as a Senior Archaeologist and Project Manager. I began in HRM by working for a small consulting firm in northeastern BC assessing mainly oil and gas developments. I worked with Katzie Development Corporation based out of Pitt Meadows, BC from 2007 to 2008 excavating and conducting analysis for a large scale wet-site. Since beginning work with Wood E&IS in 2008, I have supervised and managed HRM projects of various kinds throughout BC, including impact assessments, overview studies, and mitigative archaeological excavations. I am 35 years old and live in Port Moody where I enjoy hiking and mountain biking with my dog and spend a lot of time skiing in the winter.

M.A. Research:

I intend to investigate whether LiDAR data can be effectively used to plan and execute archaeological field inventories within the Teck Highland Valley Copper Operation (THVCO). The research problem is that traditional field inventory methods are not financially or logistically feasible to assess large project areas like the THVCO. Alternative methods and technologies could provide options for identifying a high percentage of archaeological resources present in a large project area without expending the time, labour and financial resources required to complete the assessment using traditional methods. This research will be completed in collaboration with the Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council and THVCO as part of a Mitacs Accelerate Program.

Other Activities:  I spend most of my free time with family and friends travelling and/or outside hiking, camping, scuba diving, mountain biking and in the winter snowboarding and backcountry skiing.
