B.A.: University of Wyoming 2014

Others Credentials: Wyoming Archaeological Field School 2014

Supervisor: Dr. Mark Collard

Research Areas:  Historic Archaeology, Archaeology of the Midwest, Archaeology of North American Mining, Post-Colonial Culture

As a graduate from the University of Wyoming with a degree in anthropology and a minor in professional writing, I have developed the skill set to work in HRM archaeology.  During my academic career, I worked in a curation lab contributing to the care of archaeological collections. This experience lead me to further value the archaeological record and to apply for several field technician positions. I’ve been working as Crew Chief for LTA, Inc., since 2015.

The Professional Master's Program in HRM hooked me because it allows me to continue with the life-long and hands-on training that is essential to working as an archaeologist. The program is challenging and rigorous coupled with full time work, but being a well-rounded archaeologist is important to me and my employer.

Research Interest:

HRM interests me because it is a field that is still working out some important kinks. Collaboration across disciplines, nations, and even between contract and academic archaeologists is essential. Coming from a four-field anthropology background, I am interested in a multi-field approach to archaeology. HRM provides opportunities for the four fields to intersect, especially with regard to archaeology and ethnographic work. I am also interested in curation and museum studies, including improving the accessibility of these data sets for interested parties.

M.A. Research:

My thesis research is addressing the curation crisis and deaccessioning. I am examining the current status of collections using available repository data sets. The main goal of my thesis research is to shed light on the current status of collections across the nation, to question the current methods of attaining modern curation standards for these collections, and to reevaluate current accessioning and deaccessioning criterions.
