Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements

• 120 credit hours, with at least 45 (of the 120) in upper division courses
• No more than 15 upper division credit hours transferred from another institution may be used toward the requirements for a major.
• Completion of WQB requirements if admitted Fall 2006 term and after.

• Completion of Breadth requirements if admitted prior to Fall 2006 term (at least 30 semester hours from five prescribed departments outside the major department with no more than nine semester hours from any one department counting toward the 30; up to six semester hours may be from General Studies courses).
• Minimum GPA requirements: minimum cumulative and upper division GPA of 2.0, minimum plan and upper division plan of 2.0.

Upper Division Requirements

Students must complete at least 30 upper division archaeology credit hours which must include

• at least three Group I courses (ARCH 372, 471W, and either 373 or 376)
• at least one Group II course
• at least one Group III course
• at least two Group IV courses

If students take both ARCH 373 and 376, they may use both as Group I requirements, or use ARCH 373 as a Group II requirement, or ARCH 376 as a Group IV requirement.

* It is strongly recommended that majors students, students interested in physical anthropology, and those contemplating graduate studies, complete all four Group I courses.

Upper Division Requirements

Students must complete at least 32 upper division archaeology units, which must include:

• Group I: Both Group I courses
• Group II: At least one Group II course
• Group III: At least one Group III course
• Group IV: At least two Group IV courses (of which one must be ARCH 321, 331, or 378)

Recommended Courses:

• ARCH 376 (Required for honors, recommended for majors and students intending to do post graduate work in Archaeology)
• BISC 102 (Recommended for majors and honors where a focus will be in Biological Anthropology courses)
• GEOG 111 (Recommended for majors and honors where a focus will be in Environmental Archaeology courses)
• SA 101 (Recommended for majors, honors and students intending to do post graduate work in Archaeology)
• STAT 101, STAT 201 or STAT 203 (prerequisite for ARCH 376)
