SFU health scientist Tim Takaro is available to comment on the significance and benefit of the City of Victoria’s bold pioneering move to help reduce skin cancer. The Capital Regional District, including Victoria and 12 adjoining municipalities, has become the first Canadian jurisdiction to bar people under the age of 18 from using commercial tanning beds. Takaro, a physician-scientist, studies the links between occupational or environmental exposures and diseases, such as cancer.
