Wednesday Feb. 23 marks Pink Shirt Day and across the country thousands will wear the colour to show their support against bullying in schools, on the job and in the home. SFU criminologist Brenda Morrison, author of Restoring Safe School Communities: A Whole School Response to Bullying, Violence and Alienation (2007) can talk about the power of the movement as well as what efforts are taking place and what is still needed to effectively combat bullying.

World’s most livable city – where do we go from here?
If you missed it, The Economist has again (for the fifth time) ranked Vancouver the world’s most livable city. Gordon Price, director of SFU’s City Program, can provide comment on where they city goes from here. “Livable, at a price,” is his latest blog headline. He points out that the magazine’s qualifier when evaluating the livability of cities is “…based on challenges to lifestyle beyond those presented by income or other living considerations.” To which he replies “Maybe the headline should be ‘Vancouver: The Great Beyond.’” More of his thoughts on Vancouver can be found at www.pricetags.ca.
