Dual diagnosis
Two SFU Faculty of Health Sciences experts with the Centre for Applied Research in Mental Health and Addiction can comment on the provincial government’s newly announced 10-year plan to deal with dual diagnosis. Julian Somers and Michelle Patterson research how having both mental illness and substance abuse issues impacts the likelihood of having life long problems with everything from poverty to crime and homelessness.

Halloween for Hunger
Who says trick-or-treating is just for the kids? Approximately 40 members of SFU's student residence club, Inspiration Projects, dressed in their favourite costumes and took to the neighbourhood streets last night for the Halloween for Hunger campaign. Instead of collecting the usual candy, they received approximately 1,000 non-perishable food item for the SFU Food Bank. Tatiana Cheladyn, a fourth year dance student organized this year's scary crowd and project and can comment on its positive impact for those in need.
