Nuclear situation at highest rating
Japanese officials have raised the crisis rating of the Fukushima nuclear power plant to Level 7, which is the highest possible on the international scale for these situations. While this is the same rating given to the Chernobyl disaster, SFU professor Kris Starosta says the two scenarios are not comparable. The nuclear scientist explains despite the high rating, Fukushima has so far only released about one-tenth the radiation compared to Chernobyl. Starosta says British Columbians have nothing to fear from this latest development.
