The Chief Justice of B.C.’s Supreme Court Robert Bauman has declared legal the anti-HST petition spear-headed by former B.C. Premier Bill Vander Zalm. SFU public policy analyst Doug McArthur has been keeping tabs on this tax turmoil. He is ready to comment on a ruling that allows B.C.’s Chief Electoral Officer to forward a more than 700,000 name petition to the legislature. McArthur had predicted, “It would be constitutionally absurd to rule that the legislature cannot reverse the provincial part of the HST.”
