More officers to combat shootings
Premier Gordon Campbell has announced the government will dedicate an additional 168 police officers and 10 crown lawyers to deal with escalating gun violence. It’s part of a seven point anti-gang crackdown designed to address the problem. Robert Gordon, director of SFU’s School of Criminology, is available to comment on the announcement on the heels of yet another shooting yesterday. He will also be following next week’s provincial budget on topics related to crime and punishment.
