Matters of the heart
SFU kinesiologist Scott Lear will step up his investigations of why we get heart disease and how we can prevent or manage it, as the first Pfizer/Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Cardiovascular Prevention Research at St. Paul’s Hospital, established together with SFU. Lear studies disparities of heart disease rates across different ethnic communities – and found that ethnicity can determine how and where fate is stores – as well as how technology can work to deliver “virtual” care in remote geographical areas.
