SFU earth scientist Diana Allen is intrigued about a Quebec research team’s finding about groundwater tapped by wells. It found that high levels of manganese in such water are linked to significantly lower IQs among children who drink it compared to those who don’t. Allen can talk about why the World Health Organization, as well as Health Canada, should pay close attention to the Quebec finding as her research indicates B.C. groundwater has high levels of manganese.
