SFU criminologist and restorative justice expert Brenda Morrison is available to comment on the outcome of the British Columbia Review Board’s re-assessment of its decision to grant Allan Schoenborn community passes in Coquitlam. The hearing takes place tomorrow. But that hasn’t stopped Coquitlam’s mayor and residents from holding a protest rally today at their community’s city hall to show support for Schoenborn’s ex-wife who lives in the community. Morrison says the controversy over Schoenborn’s fate underscores why the justice system needs to be more attentive to victims’ rights.
