Economic meltdown?
Volcanic activity continues to threaten air travel amid charges from global air carriers feeling the economic sting that European aviation authorities are overreacting. “They have little choice,” says SFU marketing analyst Lindsay Meredith. “Failure to make a right call could be catastrophic.” While the airline industry is reeling financially, others, like hotels, are reaping some benefit. Meredith can talk about the economic impact as well as the global ripple effect of disrupting goods and service transport. Meanwhile SFU volcanologist Glyn Williams-Jones can provide comment on the state of seismic activity.

Making sense of Site C dam
SFU political economist Marjorie Cohen can comment on the wisdom of the B.C. government’s approval of the Site C dam, a $6 billion plan to build a massive hydroelectric dam on the Peace River. Cohen, a long-time ardent opponent of the privatization of B.C. Hydro, can talk about the economic, environmental and consumer-related pros and cons of the dam, which still has legislative and legal hurdles to cross.

I fail to see "wisdom" in the approval of the Site C dam. It is time for economists to take the envionment into consideration, as we now know that it is the most important factor if we are to advance toward a sustainable future. To me, builing more dams is a backward move.
